梅心怡：忧郁的魔法使，食客的经验

In this exhibition, Mei Xinyi applies her experience in novel writing to the arrangement and composition of works across various media. Her creations include photography, video, installation, painting, and writing. Through techniques such as direct photography, mapping, and the appropriation of readymade objects, she generates raw materials, which are then cleansed, cut, and assembled. This process strips them of their original context, returning them to an initial state. These works are laid out like morphemes within the two novels hinted at by the exhibition's titles: the melancholy magician and the diner's experience. The melancholy magician portrays her frustration as an agent and manipulator of language when faced with the failure of symbols and translation; the diner's experience, on the other hand, offers a resolution to this frustration by presenting her as a receiver of experience and a bodily participant responding on a practical level.
在本次展览中，梅心怡将小说写作的经验应用于多种媒介作品的编排与布局。她的创作涵盖摄影、影像、装置、绘画与写作，通过直接摄影、制图与现成品挪用等技术生成最初的材料，对其进行清洗、切割与装配，剥离其原有语境，使材料进入一种初始化状态。她将这些作品以语素为单元铺陈入展览标题提示的两则小说：《忧郁的魔法使》与《食客的经验》。《忧郁的魔法使》呈现了她作为代理（agency）与语言的操演者，面对符号与转译失灵的沮丧；《食客的经验》则提供了一种她作为经验的接收者与身体的参与者，在现实层面回应前述沮丧的解方。
