HUANG YISHAN: mini Q
黄一山:mini Q
2018.12.16-2019.01.16

‘In this exhibition, Huang created the works in mini sizes, so as to experiment the language related to “Q”. The artist is extremely rigorous in creation, and can even be described as “suffocating”. Over the years, his works have exuded the rules and tensions he has created. However, the works in this exhibition are surprisingly cute and pleasant. More than a dozen tiny works, in a child-like way, have revealed the clues to his language changes in the past decade. Most of the works originate from the “mother” works that the artist once created, just like the children of those “mother” works, or the “toys” of those paintings. The exhibition is the artist’s escape and feedback of creation, and also a joyful examination of his creation and ego.
